HAHA. Having an argument under one of Jalopnik’s articles. Page is refreshing slower and slower. I look at the adblocker and that thing is rolling 4 digit numbers.

Craps out at around 2000 ads blocked.

There’s an ad issue that they’re actually working out at the moment, sadly. :( S hould be fixed within the next day.

There’ s no escape. I’ve been seeing ads (or empty boxes where my browser is blocking ads) popping up in my JRitS roundup posts, too. Gah!

The main front page sites are like walking through a red-light district, be careful where you click you are bound to get some kind of infection or charged for touching some thing you didn’t intend on touching.

I’m running multipl e ad blockers on Jalopnik and they’re effective, however, it seems that when you block ads Jalopnik bans you to the greys forever. Oh well, fuck ‘em with a roll of barbed wire

What I was wondering is if adblocker reads each comment as ad and attempts to block it. The more comments in the article, the more ads it detects and slower page runs.

But the numbers don’t add up for that to be true. Each article has a number of comments. That one had about 500 comments (tho it may be missing comments to comments or something.) and number of ads blocked was near 2000.

It’s possible for the article to have 2000 comments tho so maybe... ?

I think there’s just some script (which probably should be blocked) that is endlessly retrying to load others, leading to a whole lot of stuff being blocked.

Ouch. I wonder tho if running multiple ad blockers causes some sort of detectable conflict and their logic detects you as a bot and places you in greys

Back in my college days first “ do while loop write to file” I wrote filled my hard drive in a hurry. I chuckled and called myself an idiot because I didn’t place an exit logic in the loop

I don’t think thats the ads.  I’ve been blocking the FP ads for years.

I have too, however my AdBlock quit working roughly a month ago and I got overwhelmed with ads. I added AdblockerGlobal and the deluge of ads ended. So did my ability to post.

This means, in non-technical terms, the ad blocker is blocking your ability to post. Mine blocks  seeing comments until I give it permission.

I don’t think it’s the adblocker. E ven I run an adblocker and have left it on on The Kinjas sometimes. I mean, you pretty much have to have one anymore.

Not sure why you’d be greyed out as you seem Mostly Harmless (tm), but use that great ungreyed power wisely (read: rules 1 and 2 of Oppo def apply to the FP) and you’ll probably be fine.
